New generation of PLA compound breaks the restriction of impact and hydrolysis

PLA got into the market for many years, due to its biodegradable property, it’s been used in disposable food packing or container widely. However, PLA can’t be effectively decomposed in the lacking of composting conditions and become a part of white pollution. PLA is made by renewable resource can not be ignored. How to extend the life cycle of PLA products is an important issue that needs to be emphasized.

Because of the slow crystallization rate, PLA is easy to be incomplete crystallinity and causes the product transformed over 60 degree. To achieve complete crystallinity, extending cycle time and increasing processing cost are necessary. In addition, PLA also has other disadvantages to restrict many applications. 

Compounding is the most popular solution to improve the PLA. Adding talc into PLA can accelerate the crystallinity and lose its transparency. Fully crystallinity not only offers high heat resistance to PLA products but reduce the cost of raw material. This traditional PLA compound still have the problem of long cycle time, easy hydrolysis and low impact property. Disposable tableware is the mainly application by commercialized PLA compound.
