VeryGreenTM is PLA compound made from high stereochemical purity PLA which is from non-GMO cassava or sugarcane. VG72 blends are designed to increase the heat resistance and anti-hydrolysis of PLA due to its outstanding crystallinity. To satisfy further applications, PLA compounding is the most popular way to improve PLA’s thermal property. However, slow crystallized, easily hydrolyzed and migration of plasticizer are still market restrictions. VeryGreenTM offers a perfect solution to break through the bottleneck.
A bio-based material is a material intentionally made from substances derived from living (or once-living) organisms. Biobased product, was defined by the United States Secretary of Agriculture, means a product determined by the Secretary to be a commercial or industrial product (other than food or feed) that is composed, in whole or in significant part, of bio-based material.
ASTM D6866 was developed in the United States as a standardized analytical method for determining the biobased content of solid, liquid, and gaseous samples using radiocarbon dating. ASTM D6866 distinguishes carbon resulting from contemporary biomass-based inputs from those derived from fossil-based inputs. Biomass contains a well-characterized amount of Carbon-14 that is easily differentiated from other materials such as fossil fuels that do not contain any Carbon-14. Since the amount of Carbon-14 in biomass is known, a percentage of carbon from renewable sources can be calculated easily from the TOTAL organic carbon in the sample.
The Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 of EU food contact legislation provides a standard to the producers of plastic materials which intend to come into contact with food.
